Guest Workshop Series #5: Charity Acro Workshop
QDC is thrilled to offer another specialty workshop: Acro! Our very own Advanced Choreography Teacher LaurieAnn Stevens will lead an Advanced Acro Class in Combat Room #1 of the ARC on January 28th from 3-4:30. LaurieAnn has trained intensively in the Acro style and has been dancing for over 17 years. We are humbled to put on this workshop as it will be by donation in support of a charity extremely important to LaurieAnn; the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Pulmonary Fibrosis is a lung disease that affects around 30,000 Canadians. LaurieAnn’s mother was diagnosed with the disease when LaurieAnn was in Grade 6. For most cases, the cause is unknown and there is no cure and limited treatments. After a hard fight with the disease, her mother tragically passed away in 2012. We would love to pay tribute to her memory and LaurieAnn’s family by donating all funds raised from this workshop, one of LaurieAnn’s favourite styles, to help support those suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis and to one day find a cure.
This workshop will be geared towards the Advanced Level so dancers will need to have sufficient Acro experience to participate. It will be an hour and a half of fun, expanding your skills and supporting a great cause! The price of admission is a minimum $5 cash donation at the door or receipt of a donation to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (http://cpff.ca/get-involved/donate/). We also encourage those who would like to donate but cannot attend the class to do so via the above link.
Come on out on the 28th to support an amazing foundation and a wonderful member of our QDC family! We hope to see you all there!
